Job Summary:
The Perfumer is responsible for leading fragrance creation, product development, and laboratory operations. This role combines creative perfumery expertise with operational leadership to ensure the development of innovative, high-quality fragrance products while maintaining efficient laboratory, inventory, and supplier management processes.
This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, overseeing fragrance technology development, managing customer and supplier relationships, and ensuring the successful launch of new products across the at our client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fragrance Creation & Product Development
- Develop and create innovative fragrance formulations aligned with customer requirements, market trends, and brand positioning.
- Lead fragrance development projects from concept through commercialization.
- Evaluate and optimize fragrance performance, stability, and quality.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product development teams to deliver customized fragrance solutions.
- Conduct fragrance evaluations, sensory testing, and benchmarking against market products.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging ingredients, and new fragrance technologies.
- Laboratory Management
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company procedures.
- Establish and maintain laboratory best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage laboratory equipment, maintenance schedules, calibration, and performance monitoring.
- Supervise sample preparation, testing, documentation, and record management.
- Innovation & Research
- Drive research and development initiatives to support business growth and product differentiation.
- Explore and implement new fragrance ingredients, technologies, and manufacturing techniques.
- Support the development of proprietary fragrance concepts and innovations.
- Monitor industry regulations and ensure compliance with international fragrance standards.
- Inventory & Supplier Management
- Manage fragrance raw material inventory and laboratory consumables.
- Coordinate sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationship management.
- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability criteria.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure continuous laboratory operations while optimizing costs.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory personnel and technical staff.
- Assign priorities, monitor performance, and ensure effective resource utilization.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct training on laboratory procedures, safety standards, and fragrance development processes.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with customers to understand fragrance requirements and develop tailored solutions.
- Present fragrance concepts, prototypes, and technical recommendations to clients.
- Support business development activities through technical expertise and innovation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements, quality standards, and customer specifications.
- Maintain documentation related to formulations, testing, approvals, and compliance.
- Support audits, inspections, and certification processes as required.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions when necessary.
Requirements:
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, Perfumery, or a related field.
- Professional certification or formal training in perfumery is highly preferred.
Experience- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in fragrance development, perfumery, or laboratory management.
- Proven experience in fragrance formulation and product innovation.
- Experience managing laboratory operations and technical teams.
- Strong understanding of fragrance raw materials, application techniques, and industry regulations.
