Job Summary:

The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for carrying out service, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment, including forklifts, excavators, loaders, and EWPs (such as scissor lifts and boom lifts). The role supports workshop operations in achieving financial and operational targets, ensuring high-quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Perform servicing and repair of forklifts, excavators, loaders, and access equipment 
    • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults 
    • Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical diagrams 
    • Ensure all repairs meet quality and safety standards before release 
    • Support workshop in achieving financial and operational KPIs 
    • Minimize waste, rework, and unproductive time 
    • Accurately record job times, parts, and consumables used 
    • Report stock and parts re-order requirements to Workshop Manager 
    • Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop assets; report any issues or losses 
    • Follow all workplace health and safety regulations 
    • Use appropriate PPE at all times 
    • Maintain safe working practices for self and team 
    • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards 
    • Uphold professional and ethical workplace conduct 
    • Deliver professional and courteous service to customers 
    • Ensure work meets or exceeds customer expectations 
    • Assist in resolving customer queries and complaints when required 
    • Complete job sheets accurately, including labour, parts, and consumables 
    • Ensure correct documentation for invoicing purposes 
    • Attend toolbox meetings and contribute to workshop discussions 
    • Participate in performance reviews and KPI assessments 
Requirements:
    • Trade qualification in Mechanical or equivalent 
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role 
    • Experience in diesel engines, hydraulics, and machinery maintenance 
    • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics 
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) 
    • Good computer literacy 
    • Valid driver’s license  
    • Strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills 
    • Team player with positive workshop attitude 
    • Adaptable and committed to continuous improvement
