Job Summary:
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects. The role ensures timely delivery of project activities, monitors critical paths, analyzes delays and variances, and provides accurate progress reports to support strategic decision-making. The Senior Planning Engineer also supervises and mentors junior planners and schedulers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Scheduling & Planning
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Prepare short-term and long-term planning for project activities.
- Update schedules based on project progress and changes in scope.
- Progress Monitoring & Variance Analysis
- Track project progress against approved schedules.
- Analyze delays and deviations, identifying root causes.
- Recommend corrective actions to mitigate delays and optimize performance
- Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for senior management.
- Provide dashboards and KPI analysis to support decision-making.
- Assist in forecasting project completion dates and critical path updates.
- Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with project teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Ensure timely delivery of resources and materials in line with project schedules.
- Communicate schedule requirements and updates to all stakeholders.
- Risk Management & Contingency Planning

Requirements:
- 5–10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of project control processes, critical path analysis, and resource allocation
- Experience in progress monitoring, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Understanding of project management, contracts, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Professional certification in Project Planning (PMP, PSP, or equivalent) is preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor junior staff
