Job Summary:

The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects. The role ensures timely delivery of project activities, monitors critical paths, analyzes delays and variances, and provides accurate progress reports to support strategic decision-making. The Senior Planning Engineer also supervises and mentors junior planners and schedulers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Scheduling & Planning
    • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
    • Prepare short-term and long-term planning for project activities.
    • Update schedules based on project progress and changes in scope.
  • Progress Monitoring & Variance Analysis
    • Track project progress against approved schedules.
    • Analyze delays and deviations, identifying root causes.
    • Recommend corrective actions to mitigate delays and optimize performance
  • Reporting & Performance Analysis
    • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for senior management.
    • Provide dashboards and KPI analysis to support decision-making.
    • Assist in forecasting project completion dates and critical path updates.
  • Coordination & Stakeholder Management
    • Collaborate with project teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.
    • Ensure timely delivery of resources and materials in line with project schedules.
    • Communicate schedule requirements and updates to all stakeholders.
  • Risk Management & Contingency Planning 
    • Collaborate with project teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.
    • Ensure timely delivery of resources and materials in line with project schedules.

Requirements:
    • 5–10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
    • Strong knowledge of project control processes, critical path analysis, and resource allocation
    • Experience in progress monitoring, forecasting, and variance analysis
    • Understanding of project management, contracts, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
    • Professional certification in Project Planning (PMP, PSP, or equivalent) is preferred
    • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
    • Effective communication and leadership skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor junior staff
