Job Purpose:
To ensure the smooth, efficient, and reliable operation of our Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, primarily Tableau and Power BI, by providing expert technical support, proactive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Role and Responsibilities
Platform Support and Maintenance:
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance and stability.
- Provide day-to-day operational support for Tableau Server and Power BI Service, including user administration, security management, and content deployment.
- Perform regular system health checks and maintenance tasks, including backups, upgrades, and patching.
- Manage and maintain data connections and gateways for both platforms.
Incident and Problem Management:
- Respond to and resolve user support tickets related to Tableau and Power BI, adhering to SLAs.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues, including data connectivity, report performance, and platform errors.
- Document incidents, problems, and resolutions in a knowledge base for future reference.
- Escalate complex issues to senior team members or vendors as needed.
User Training and Documentation:
- Develop and maintain user documentation, including how-to guides and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide training and support to end-users on Tableau and Power BI best practices.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training materials and workshops.
Data Governance and Security:
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and security standards.
- Manage user permissions and access controls within Tableau and Power BI.
- Monitor data quality and integrity within the BI platforms.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve BI platform performance, efficiency, and user experience.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest features and functionalities of Tableau and Power BI.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for BI operations.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in BI operations support, preferably with Tableau and Power BI.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to BI platforms.
- Experience with user administration, security management, and content deployment in Tableau Server and/or Power BI Service.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and SQL.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Tableau Server and Power BI Service administration.
- Understanding of data connectivity and gateways (e.g., Tableau Bridge, Power BI gateways).
- Basic knowledge of SQL for data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud based BI environments(Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.
