MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS TEAM LEADER - UAE NATIONAL   (30806)

Our client, an iconic government entity for global development support and aid requires a UAE national Media & Communications Team leader to be based in Abu Dhabi for their media and communications department. Potential candidate will be responsible in developing the roadmap and ensuring efficient management of various aspects of the Media Department in order to plan and deliver media services in a timely and efficient manner. Successful incumbent shall also be responsible for coordinating with media content providers, ideating next generation products, developing communication and promotional activities and managing the entire lifecycle of media services. Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the development of the Media Department strategy in line with entity’s Development’s strategy, ensuring vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing Department strategies.
  • Oversee the development of the Media Department organization structure in an effort to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal fitment within with entity’s corporate structure
  • Oversee the consolidation and recommend the Media Department budget
  • Monitor financial performance versus budget and report unanticipated costs or revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance, as well as potential areas for cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities to capitalize upon


Key Result Areas:

  • Manage the Media services’ lifecycle, revenues and profitability to ensure roadmap is executed according to plan.
  • Compare communication channels’ effectiveness to develop a point of view on the most effective communication channel for a particular service or segment.
  • Liaise with creative and media agencies to develop media campaigns (i.e., creative briefs) in accordance with the Media Department’s strategy to ensure appropriate visibility and publicity for entity’s initiatives.
  • Negotiate and secure partnerships with other service providers to launch next generation media products and services, whenever necessary.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to the content production schedule, ensuring up-to-date communication about entity’s initiatives on the portal and social networks.
  • Monitor the success of media campaigns, whether digital or traditional, by evaluating the impact generated on the public.
  • Monitor the performance of content providers and undertake necessary measures to improve their performance.
  • Design and build social network activations and competitions to increase follower base and keep existing followers highly engaged.
  • Oversee the development of standardized templates, formats and designs for internal communication and ensure adherence to quality standards and brand guidelines.
  • Oversee in the identification of corporate events for entity’s participation/ presence through which the organization can sustain its positive corporate reputation
  • Manage the pipeline of event management companies after careful consideration of the service benefits and costs of each of the providers
  • Manage the event calendar for the year by coordinating with all departments within the organisation and tracking different media events that department may leverage
  • Supervise the distribution of publicity material/ collateral including brochures, printed material promoting entity’s services and initiatives, in line with the branding guidelines and established quality standards
  • Oversee the logistics for interviews/ press releases for top management. Finalize speeches for top management and oversee the development of crisis communication plans as required
  • Ensure the conduct of proper knowledge transfer about Media services to relevant entity’s Departments to ensure seamless and coherent customer experience.


People Management / Self-Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage & evaluate employees’ performance with continuous feedback on their assigned targets and provide development opportunities to maximize the potential and engagement of employees
  • Manage the talent pipeline in the Department through recruitment, effective utilization of employee development programs, mentoring programs, career planning and succession planning
  • Manage Department changes through continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans
  • Reporting
  • Ensure that all reports of Media Department are prepared timely and accurately and meet the Company and Department requirements, standards, policies and procedures


Policies, Processes & Procedures:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of Department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Media Department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective services
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Department in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude
  • Direct and oversee the development, updates, and implementation of various information security practices and standards to ensure compliance and the protection of entity’s data and information


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Social Marketing / Media / Event Management
  • Master’s degree in Media Relations preferred
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Marketing Executive (CEM) or Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) with experience in social media tools such as desk.com, Simply Measured, Hootesuite etc.
