REGIONAL COMPLIANCE OFFICER, IMEA   (33690)

Our client, a multinational medical products manufacturer is looking for a Regional Compliance Officer, IMEA to be based in Dubai. 

 

Department: Business Ethics Compliance

 

The Regional Compliance Officer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining an effective compliance programme to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct in the IMEA (India, Middle East & Africa) region, using Global Policies/Processes as a minimum requirement, and acting as Integrity Business Partner in supporting the business in responding to risk and identifying opportunities within Business Ethics Compliance.

 

In addition, the position will be responsible for the business ethics compliance program in the Joint Venture company based in Saudi Arabia.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Strategic interaction with senior leadership:

Partnering with regional senior management and with local BA heads on understanding and responding to business ethics compliance risks related to strategic goals in the region/country 

Proactively interact with and independently communicate to regional senior management and local BA heads on business ethics and on projects and ensure proper governance and facilitating critical decision making

Contribute to Global Business Ethics Compliance projects

 

Strategic and tactical responsibility for supporting the regional organisations

Project management on selected strategic business ethics compliance functions in the region

Identify trends and risks and develop mitigation measures in collaboration with the business and other staff functions, and facilitate/align/develop best practices across the region and BAs

Support the regional and local LTs on how to handle business ethics based on significant knowledge of the business ethical regulatory environment in the IMEA region and in-depth knowledges on how to navigate regionally and challenge locally

Support the regional senior managers and JV LT in their responsibility for implementation of Code of Conduct and other global, regional and local business ethics policies and SOPs and for developing and conducting training activities across the BAs in the region

Monitor, and as necessary, coordinate compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of compliance activities 

Contribute to/act as investigator in business ethics investigations mandated by the Ethics Hotline Committee and review and develop mitigation and action plans

Proactively communicate externally with third parties (eg., distributors and other business partners) in agreement with the business

 

Daily organisational interactions and responsibility for business ethics compliance

Assessing and advising on business ethics compliance in the Region

Liaise and coordinate with the appointed Business Ethics Representatives in IMEA.

 

Key Decisions:

The Regional Compliance Officer, IMEA is responsible for ensuring compliance in the IMEA business. If the local and regional management does not take the advice provided by the Regional Compliance Officer to ensure compliance, the Regional Compliance Officer is responsible for escalation to the Chief Compliance Officer

The Regional Compliance Officer IMEA is authorised to independently represent the company in ad hoc tasks in relevant regional industry associations such as Mecomed, if the company decides to join.

The Regional Compliance Officer IMEA is authorised to design policies and SOPs to accommodate specific regional challenges – such design is made in collaboration with other relevant functions and must be aligned with the Chief Compliance Officer prior to final approval of policy/SOP.

 

Qualifications:

MBA/Master degree in relevant area such as law, finance, behavioural science, political science or other

7+ years’ experience with business ethics compliance in IMEA of which 5 years’ experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical organisation

Experience in interaction with senior management and being a valued business partner

People management experience

Fluent in English and Arabic – further language skills is an advantage

Experience in business ethics compliance at subject matter expert level preferably with in-depth knowledge on business ethics compliance in IMEA including relevant industry codes

Solid analytical skills and ability to respond to complex challenges with innovative measures that can be used at strategical, tactical and operational level in various business and regulatory environments
