Our client, a well-established international logistics provider is looking for a candidate for a Business Development role. They specialize in intermodal transports, meaning they use different modes of transport such as trucks, vessels and trains to get their customers products from A to B.
They coordinate the deep sea transports in ISO tanks from and to the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia from their office in Dubai. These transports may involve different types of products which they can categorize in either food or chemicals.
As Business Development employee at their company, you need to enjoy connecting different routes to making the supply chain as efficient as possible. This role requires you to calculate the most beneficial routes to transport their ISO tanks over the world. In addition you will take the lead in attracting new supplier relations for new set ups. You will negotiate the supplier agreements and align their operational needs with their capabilities. You will generate new leads with customers and follow up with a proposal. In addition you will keep in touch with the customer, develop the relation and assist with their requests for transport lanes. You will work closely with the Commercial Manager based in the Netherlands and the General Manager in developing new markets. Next to development and sales you will support the operational team where necessary for example with customer orders. You will become an expert to provide their customers with the best logistic solution that suits their needs.
Calculate and determine prices for quotes;
Generate customer quotes and follow up;
Contact and manage key suppliers, including agent network;
Create & develop localised commercial solutions i.e. agents, shipping lines;
Desk research for new markets, commodity flows;
Generate management information on sales and business development;
Support the operational team.
5 years of work-experience in logistics, preferably bulk and/or tank-operators.
Academic Bachelor degree or applied sciences level or equivalent professional and intellectual ability;
Proven track-record with sales and business development;
An international orientation;
You have the power of persuasion and a passionate commercial focus;
Focused on the client’s needs and requirements;
Outstanding network capabilities;
Fluent in English, knowledge of other languages is an advantage;
Good working knowledge of Microsoft office (advanced Excel knowledge) and adaptive to other IT systems;
Proactive, independent and positive work ethics;
Ability to spot and define new opportunities and market developments.
